The Harbin Welding Research Institute was established in 1956 and was originally part of the Ministry of Machinery Industry. In July 1999, it was transformed into a state-level large-scale technology enterprise along with the Institute of Mechanical Science. It is now part of the Central Enterprise Work Committee.
The company has more than 500 employees, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 130 researchers and senior engineers, and 70% of the staff of undergraduate and bachelor degree. Research and development direction includes metal material solderability and product soldering, welding behavior physics and computer simulation, welding materials and preparation techniques, welding process and welding automation equipment, welding robot applications, surface coating materials and processes, thermal cutting, welding Inspection and repair, technical information, etc.
Since the reform of the enterprise, Harbin Welding has gradually increased the pace of reform.
