Potassium fertilizer should be applied deep and concentrated: Potassium is an element that is small in soil and easy to be fixed by clay minerals. Therefore, deep application of potassium fertilizer can increase the utilization rate of potassium fertilizer, and centralized application can reduce the contact area between potassium and soil. The reduction of fixation and the increase of potassium diffusion rate are beneficial to the absorption of potassium by crops.
Potassium fertilizer should be applied early: usually potassium fertilizer is used as a base fertilizer and a large proportion of fertilizer. If potassium fertilizer is used as top dressing, it should be used early. Because the critical period of potassium nutrition in most crops is in the early stage of crop growth, the potassium uptake of crops is violent in the early and middle stages, and the potassium is significantly reduced in the late stage, even in the mature stage. Cereal crops require a large amount of potassium during the tillering-shifting period, accounting for 60%-70% of the total potassium requirement. Cotton needs the highest amount of potassium in the stage of bud-forming, and the soy-fruit of vegetables is in the flower bud stage, and the radish is the period of maximum potassium demand in the period of succulent root expansion. On sandy soil, potassium fertilizer should not be applied too much at one time, and should be applied in divided doses, that is, the principle of a small number of times should be followed to prevent potassium leaching. On the clay, the base fertilizer can be applied at one time or the amount applied per time is larger.
Potassium fertilizer should be combined with nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers: Potassium fertilizer efficiency is related to soil nitrogen and phosphorus supply levels. When the content of N and P in soil is low, the effect of single application of potassium fertilizer is not obvious. With the increase of N and P dosage, potassium fertilizer can increase yield, and the interaction of N, P and K can also promote N and P. The absorption of K increases the utilization rate of potassium fertilizer.
