The Seco Planche plant in France has three EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machines with PCD-specific, special spark power generators. Two of them are wire-cutting machines and one is a grinding wheel erosion device. They are all five-axis CNC machines, and one of them has a feeding device that loads eight workpieces. The use of a reamer with a welded PCD tip allows many hours of machining time and the feed unit helps keep the machine running continuously.
PCD (polycrystalline diamond) is one of the hardest cutting materials in the world, and PCD processing is one of the most challenging processes in the factory.
