Common defects: quenching and decarburization

cause:

1. In the salt bath, the content of water, oxygen and impurities (such as sulfates, carbonates) is too high. The iron oxide scale falls into the furnace. The nitrate salt is brought into the furnace. Poor deoxidation and incomplete slag removal. The quenching fixture has rust 6. Summer air humidity is too high

Preventive measures:

1. Barium chloride must be dried and dehydrated after 300~500?C, 2~4h before use. Before quenching and heating, the salt bath is strictly deoxidized and slag. Always clean the electrode scale. Regularly change the salt 5. Clean the quenching fixture rust and dry

Approach:

1. Severe decarbonization is scrapped. Decarburization depth is less than the amount of retained grinding, and can be used as a qualified product. The decarburization depth is greater than the retained grinding amount. After quenching and tempering, the surface hardness is not lower than 55~60HRC, and it can be remedy by annealing and carburizing.
