The China Electricity Council said that time-consuming power shortages in some parts of China have existed in recent years. The current power shortage presents the characteristics of advance time, wide range, and increased gap, which is significantly different from the large-area power shortage before 2004. The current power shortage is still structural power shortage, with local, seasonal and time-course characteristics. It is not advisable to exaggerate the current situation and impact of power shortages, or even define it as a national “electricity shortage”. The reporter learned today from the China Electricity Council that in the first four months of this year, due to rapid growth in power demand, tight supply of coal and power, drought in some areas, reduced power output, insufficient power supply capacity in some areas, and limited capacity adjustment across the grid. The impact of factors, the national electricity supply and demand situation is generally tight, the contradiction between power supply and demand in some regions and peak hours is more prominent, the power supply situation is severe, but it should also be recognized that this power shortage is different from the national large-scale, persistent "lack of electricity" In general, it is a structural power shortage. By adopting orderly electricity measures, increasing cross-regional inter-provincial power supply support, and effectively coordinating coal-electricity contradictions, it is possible to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand and reduce the gap to a certain extent.   According to the China Electricity Council, during the peak season from June to August, the total electricity consumption of the whole society is expected to be 1.25 to 1.3 trillion kWh, an increase of about 12% year-on-year; the highest power load will increase by about 14%. During the peak summer season, the East China Power gap is 15 million kilowatts, and the gaps in North China, Central China and South China are about 5 million kilowatts. If there is a combination of uncertainties such as climate, incoming water, and coal supply, the peak gap may further expand. According to China Electricity Council, due to the imbalanced power plant structure and regional structure in recent years, the proportion of thermal power has dropped rapidly, the proportion of new energy power generation has increased, and the proportion of power installed capacity in the western region has increased rapidly. The construction of the power grid has not kept up, resulting in a severely limited capacity allocation of resources across the country. The seasonal power gap in the eastern and central regions has increased. On the contrary, surplus power in the western and northeastern regions cannot be transported to the eastern and central regions. This is a typical structural Power shortage pattern.
