British Maritime Technologies Designs Solar Powered Ferry

According to the introduction of British maritime technology Nigel Gee, the company has received an order for China to designate a ferry for estuaries and coastal waters. The ferry is 25 meters long and is powered by batteries and can carry 150 passengers.

As a passenger ferry, in addition to providing basic ship structural designs, British Maritime Technologies will develop the vessel's styling to provide an elegant, minimalist design that embodies modern "green" credentials and practical functions. British Maritime Technologies' design will use a vanadium redox battery (VRB) to power an electric drive motor and serve a catamaran with a speed of up to 10 knots. The tower of the ship will use solar cells.

It is reported that the ship was started construction in 2011 and delivered in 2012.
