From November 22 to 24, CNPC’s Annual Oil and Gas Exploration Annual Meeting 2011 was held in Langfang. The meeting summed up the oil and gas exploration achievements and experience in 2011 and arranged for the deployment of 2012 key oil and gas exploration work. The meeting emphasized that we must continue to adhere to the resource strategy, continue to advance the peak period of reserves growth, make every effort to achieve new discoveries and major breakthroughs in oil and gas exploration, and make new and greater contributions to the construction of comprehensive international energy companies and safeguarding national energy security.

Zhou Jiping, general manager of the group company, member of the party group, and president of China National Petroleum Corporation, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. He first fully affirmed the important phased results achieved by the Group's implementation of the peak period of oil and gas reserves growth in the past five years: he achieved a series of important breakthroughs, expanded the exploration field, discovered and implemented a number of large-scale reserve areas, and proposed and formed The understanding of exploration theory in large oil and gas areas, exploration ideas and methods; the promotion and breakthrough of a number of supporting key engineering technologies; over-complete oil and gas reserves planning goals.

After analyzing the opportunities and challenges faced by the development of the oil and gas exploration business, Zhou Jiping pointed out that in the coming period, for a long period of time, no matter how the macroeconomic situation changes, the pattern of tight domestic supply and demand for oil and gas resources will not change, and the upstream business will develop as a company. The role of the foundation and profit pillar will not change, and the leading position of oil and gas exploration will not change. The general staff of the exploration system must further enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency for development, continue to promote the peak period of oil and gas reserves growth, and strive to create a new era of exploration work.

Zhou Jiping pointed out that the group company decided that the peak period of domestic oil and gas reserves projects will continue to be implemented for five years. In view of the next step in oil and gas exploration work, he stressed that it must focus on four areas of work. The first is to highlight the focus of work and achieve scale storage. In total, “three prominences and three enhancements” are to be achieved, namely, highlighting exploration in new areas in major basins, key areas, and new areas, and strengthening risk exploration, gas exploration, and fine exploration in mature areas. The second is to give play to the overall advantages and promote the progress of engineering technology. The three core technologies of geophysical prospecting, drilling, and reservoir reconstruction should continue to tackle key exploration technologies and provide important support for the healthy development of oil and gas exploration. The third is to strengthen exploration management and improve the overall efficiency. We must scientifically organize comprehensive geological research, continue to adhere to the integration of exploration and development, and continue to promote fine management with project management at the core, and give full play to the overall advantages of integrated integration. The fourth is to increase personnel training and continuously improve the quality of the team. Strengthen and improve education, training and personnel exchanges for employees of the exploration system, give full play to the role of exploration system think tanks, and strengthen external cooperation and exchanges at home and abroad.

Zhao Zhengyi, vice president of China National Petroleum Corporation and general manager of Exploration and Production Branch, summed up the meeting and arranged for the deployment of five key tasks for oil and gas exploration in 2012. Qi Qiliang, vice president of China National Petroleum Corporation, Wang Daofu, chief geologist, and responsible comrades of the 01 office of the board of supervisors of state-owned enterprises attended the meeting. The old leaders and senior experts of the group company and the stock company Qiu Zhongjian, Jia Chengzao, Hu Wenrui, Gao Ruiqi, and Zhao Huakun were invited to attend the meeting and gave guidance on oil and gas exploration work.

At the meeting, each oil and gas field company reported and communicated on the oil and gas exploration results in 2011 and the deployment of exploration work in 2012. Five geophysical companies such as Oriental Geophysical Company made a special report. The meeting commended CNPC’s major achievements in oil and gas exploration in 2011. More than 230 relevant persons in charge of the headquarters of the Group Corporation, various oil and gas field companies, engineering and technical service companies, overseas exploration and development companies and research institutes and more than 230 key business leaders attended the meeting.
