A thin layer of a lower-phosphorus chemical nickel layer is further plated on the high-phosphorus electroless nickel plating layer to form a double-layer electroless nickel plating structure. Due to the low electrode potential of the surface layer of low-phosphorus electroless nickel plating, it becomes a sacrificial anode protective layer, which significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the plated parts. Similarly, in order to improve the long-term corrosion resistance of the plated parts, the electroless nickel plating layer is covered with an electroplated zinc, cadmium or other sacrificial anode alloy surface layer. Even after plating zinc and cadmium, heat treatment at a higher temperature is carried out in order to improve the ductility of the coating layer, and a diffusion layer can be formed in the interface region of different metal layers. The practical application results prove that after using this post-treatment technology, the anti-ocean atmospheric corrosion of steel parts is increased by about 10 times.

Surface functionalization

A thin layer (1-3 micrometers) of high coercivity magnetic material, such as a cobalt-based alloy, is vacuum sputter deposited on the surface of the non-magnetic electroless nickel plating layer to form a high performance magnetic recording device. This technical specification is used in the manufacturing process of computer hard disks.
