Day and night temperature difference

In autumn and winter, diarrhea is easy to occur. An objective reason is that the temperature difference between day and night is large. Especially the cement floor is easy to cause the piglet's abdomen to be cold, which induces gastrointestinal motility to accelerate and even cause diarrhea. When the temperature difference between day and night is more than 10 °C, the diarrhea rate increases by 25%-30%, and the environment with high humidity will significantly increase the diarrhea rate. The wooden floor and the warmth of the floor are good strategies for combating the great difference in temperature difference. Small-scale breeding can also consider burning fire when necessary.

Overfeeding or insufficient

In autumn and winter, the temperature will become lower. In order to maintain body temperature, piglets will instinctively increase feed intake, increase body heat and maintain body temperature, resulting in malabsorption diarrhea in piglets. Piglets that have just been weaned are affected by weaning stress and have reduced feed intake and even refuse to eat, causing hunger diarrhea.

Effect of feeding before weaning

It is recommended to supplement at least 600g of piglet feed before weaning, so that the piglet's gastrointestinal digestive system function can be strengthened before weaning, so as to adapt to feed intake after feeding, especially plant feed, to establish immune tolerance to feed crude protein. Reduce allergic reactions to dietary antigens.

Sow impact

Sows have a weak body and can also affect the physical condition of the piglets born, which is prone to diarrhea. In addition, the decline in sow body constitution will affect the quality of milk, and it will have a significant impact on diarrhea in suckling piglets.

Diet

Autumn is the harvest season for new raw materials, including new corn, new soybeans and so on. Knowing the pros and cons of new raw materials is important to reduce diarrhea in autumn piglets.

New corn

The new corn is very hydrated, and because the main producing areas are in the north, the weather is cold at the time of harvest, making the water larger (generally 20%-30%). The maturity of the new corn is uneven, mainly due to the different pollination time between the top and the base of the same ear, which makes the top grain often immature. Considering the factors that cause resistant diarrhea in piglets caused by resistant starch in new corn, dry and dried new corn, due to starch denaturation, increased resistance to starch, but will affect digestibility.

Bean products

It is well known that unprocessed or simply processed soybeans contain growth inhibitory factors including protease inhibitors, plant lectins, goiter-like factors, soaps and phytic acid. Soybean/soybean meal contains some sugars that are not digestible. These sugars are difficult to be digested by enzymes in animals, which will reduce the absorption of nutrients and cause diarrhea. At the same time, soybean antigen can also cause allergic reactions in pigs. There are different treatments for the specific anti-nutritional factors mentioned above, including:

1 heating and curing

After treatment with 65%-70% hot ethanol (78 °C), the antigenic effect of soybean is greatly reduced.

2 hydrolysis treatment

After the soybean hydrolysis treatment, the molecular weight of the soybean protein is significantly decreased. By adjusting the pH, the protein is precipitated to remove the soluble oligosaccharide, the soap and the phytate, and the obtained product is the soybean separated egg.

3 fermentation treatment

Fermented soybean meal utilizes beneficial microorganisms to ferment low-value soybean meal, in addition to a variety of anti-nutritional factors, while producing microbial protein, enriching and balancing the various nutrients.
