The PED is one of the many CE directives issued by the European Commission . The instruction number is 97/23/EC and the English name is PRESSURE EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE , which is the pressure equipment directive. This directive applies to the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and devices with a maximum allowable pressure PS greater than 0.5 bar . The pressure equipment involved includes pressure vessels, pipes, safety accessories, pressure accessories and combination devices. The directive on 29 November 1999, promulgated and enforced with effect from May 29, 2002.
PED certification scope
Pressure equipment and components with a maximum pressure of more than 0.5 bar.
"Pressure device" means a container, a pipe, a safety component, and a pressure component.
PED certification applies to the European Economic Area (EEA) countries, namely the EU-15 (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, UK) , plus Member States of the European Free Trade Agreement (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway).
Pressure equipment and components above a certain pressure/volume threshold must:

l Meet the basic safety requirements for design, manufacturing, and testing
l Meet appropriate conformity assessment procedures
l Attach the CE mark and the relevant regulations
