On March 19, during the opening day of the 28th Shenzhen Furniture Exhibition, the Ronglin Shijia furniture brand filed a complaint against the exhibition organizer, Sen Furniture, accusing them of copying their "Kyocera" series design. The brand claims that the "Grand" series displayed by Sen Furniture closely resembles their patented "Kyocera" line, and they have provided a design patent certificate to support their claim, hoping for a fair resolution.
The "Kyocera" series from Ronglin Shijia was launched several years ago and has been selling well in major cities across China, especially in Beijing. The product design patent for this line was approved a few years back. According to Feng Tao, a lawyer representing Ronglin Shijia, the "Great View" series exhibited by Sen Furniture appears to be plagiarized in at least three products. However, the exhibition organizing committee has not officially accepted the infringement allegations due to the lack of proper documentation, such as a copy of the plaintiff's ID card.
Ronglin Shijia's "Kyocera" series design patent certificate is on file, and the company is now working with legal teams to ensure that all necessary documents are submitted. Once the required materials are provided, the rights protection team will review the case and conduct an official inspection of the Sen Furniture pavilion.
Xu Wentao, a legal adviser for the Shenzhen Furniture Industry Association, explained that the exhibition's rights protection process is standard procedure. As a neutral party, the association must follow formal protocols. If Ronglin Shijia provides all necessary documents, the rights protection team will proceed with an investigation. If the allegations are confirmed, Sen Furniture will be instructed to remove the infringing products from display, ensuring justice for Ronglin Shijia. This situation highlights the importance of intellectual property protection in the competitive furniture industry.
