This article introduces the use of TZS88 sliding bearing alloy in gear pumps. It discusses how this new type of alloy replaces traditional tin bronze materials such as ZCuSn5Pb5Zn5 and ZCuSn10P1, offering significant improvements in performance, cost efficiency, and production simplicity. The alloy is designed to function under high-speed and high-temperature conditions, making it ideal for modern mechanical applications.
The TZS88 alloy is primarily composed of aluminum with additions of copper, tin, nickel, iron, and titanium. These elements enhance its strength, hardness, and wear resistance, making it a superior alternative to conventional bearing materials. Compared to tin bronze, TZS88 has a lower coefficient of friction, better thermal conductivity, and a much lower density, which reduces both material usage and energy consumption during production.
In practical applications, the TZS88 alloy was tested in CB50 gear oil pumps operating at speeds up to 1500 rpm and pressures of 10 MPa and 16 MPa. After rigorous testing—including no-load displacement, power, over-speed, over-pressure, and high-temperature tests—the alloy performed exceptionally well. The pump components showed no signs of fatigue or damage, confirming that the alloy can replace traditional materials without compromising performance.
A durability test was also conducted, where the gear pumps were subjected to repeated stress under various conditions. The results showed that the pumps operated smoothly for over 400,000 cycles, maintaining a volumetric efficiency of more than 92% even under high pressure. This proves that the TZS88 alloy is not only durable but also highly efficient.
Economically, the use of TZS88 alloy significantly reduces production costs. Its lower density means more parts can be produced from the same amount of material, while its lower melting point reduces energy consumption. Additionally, it eliminates the need for lead plating after machining, further cutting down on expenses.
Since its introduction in 1993, the TZS88 alloy has been widely adopted in the manufacturing of gear pumps, replacing traditional tin bronze bushings. By 1998, over 50,000 units had been produced and put into the market, demonstrating its reliability and popularity.
In conclusion, the TZS88 sliding bearing alloy offers a viable and cost-effective replacement for traditional materials in gear pump applications. It performs well under demanding conditions and provides substantial economic benefits, making it a preferred choice for manufacturers looking to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
