The application of the forced wide-opening hole type in the production of elastic flat steel involves creating a specific shape by forcing the material into a wide-opening die. This process is typically performed in two passes, which allows for smaller pressing amounts and greater stability. However, since the 6H rolling mill is located right after the 2# enclosure, the twisting and biting direction of the rolled piece make this hole type unsuitable for the sixth frame. Instead, more established technologies are better suited for the seventh or eighth frames.
Due to the uneven deformation caused by the forced wide-opening hole type, the guide system must be highly precise. As a result, it was decided to use a forming process on the 7# rolling mill. This choice ensures that the roll strength and motor power meet the required standards, while also reducing the number of guide reserves. Considering potential issues like rolling stock deviation and cracking on the convex areas, the final hole design was selected as Type II on the upper face.
Because of the uneven deformation, the rolled piece tends to deviate, and grooved hole types can lead to ear formation. Therefore, the grooved hole type was not chosen initially. After analysis, the hole type was modified to a flat-bottomed convex shape without a groove. While grooving is still an option, the flat portions on both sides should be wider than those used in the 6# rolling mill. This helps reduce the initial processing amount for new rolls and improves roll utilization.
To prevent scratches on the rolled pieces, roller guides were imported for the 7# rolling mill. These guides were selected based on their stability to ensure smooth feeding of the material. Attention must also be given to the installation of the inlet in the frame where the wide-opening hole type is applied. If not properly secured, the rolled piece may run off track and fail to enter the next mill smoothly.
For the forced wide-opening hole type, the front part of the roll must be high, and the head of the rolled piece should be straight. If the head is bent, the groove can still be formed, but the forced wide-opening hole type must be adjusted according to the bending direction. It's important to align the center of the rolled piece as closely as possible with the center of the hole type. The width of the rolled piece is primarily controlled by the frame with the forced wide-opening hole type. During production, care must be taken to monitor the wear and stability of the hole type, as well as the reduction adjustment of the rolling mill, which has the most significant impact on the width of the material.
