On May 29, the National 863 Program “Nuclear Reactor Specific Robot Technology and Application” led by China General Nuclear Power Group passed the acceptance of the expert group of the Ministry of Science and Technology. During the same period, under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Committee, the “Industry, Research and Application” integrated nuclear power smart equipment and robotics innovation alliance was unveiled. The Innovation Alliance has 31 member units.

In the nuclear power station emergency response, accident handling, equipment maintenance, etc., robots and related technologies have important application value. “Nuclear plant-specific robot technology and applications” is based on nuclear power plant engineering and operational requirements. It is dedicated to the development of robots that replace people to work in the nuclear environment or improve the safety and economy of nuclear power plants. The topic was led by China General Nuclear Power, and the Chinese Academy of Nuclear Power’s subsidiary China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., China Guangdong Nuclear Power Testing Technology Co., Ltd., as well as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Hebei University of Technology and other units participated and completed. After more than four years of research and research, the task force has mastered related application technologies and has successfully developed a number of engineering prototype products. Some of the products have been installed at the Fangchenggang nuclear power station to receive demonstration projects.

The experts group of the Ministry of Science and Technology witnessed on-site demonstrations of six nuclear power robots developed by the “Nuclear Reactor Specific Robot Technology and Applications” project. The six nuclear power intelligent robots include reactor refueling robots, reactor bolt tensioners, reactor pressure vessel non-destructive testing robots, nuclear power plant multifunctional underwater crawling robots, steam generator primary side plugging operation robots, nuclear power station micro-operation submarines, etc. . The inspection and acceptance of the project further established the industry leading position of China Guangdong Nuclear Power in the research and application of robotics in the special field of nuclear power, and opened a new chapter for the in-depth research and application of China's nuclear power smart equipment and robotics technology. Nuclear power robots can meet the special working environment of nuclear power, especially radiation resistance, etc. Under the same functional requirements, it will also have broad application prospects in other industrial fields.
