On December 20, Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Co., Ltd. successfully launched the first batch of high-quality products from its two-step epoxy resin production line, which is part of the company’s epoxy resin division. This facility is designed to produce 40,000 tons of solid epoxy resin annually and marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its specialty chemical capabilities.
The new two-step process produces solid epoxy resin with a narrow molecular weight distribution, low organic chlorine content, excellent processability, and superior chemical stability. It also offers strong adhesion, outstanding dielectric properties, and good flexibility, making it ideal for use in high-performance applications such as industrial adhesives, pipeline corrosion protection, and advanced coatings.
This project is a key component of Baling Petrochemical's broader 50,000-ton special epoxy resin initiative, which has a total investment of 640 million yuan. The two-step production line alone cost approximately 100 million yuan to develop, and over 95% of the equipment used is locally sourced, showcasing the company’s commitment to technological self-reliance and domestic innovation.
With this new line now operational, Baling Petrochemical’s annual capacity for solid epoxy resin will increase to 48,000 tons, further strengthening its position in the global specialty chemicals market. The successful launch of this project not only enhances the company’s product portfolio but also supports the development of high-value-added materials in China’s manufacturing sector.
