For tourists, finding a clean and safe restaurant can sometimes be challenging. Under the supervision of the Sanya Food and Drug Administration, each restaurant in the city displays a "smiley" hygiene rating card. These cards show the health status of the establishment in three different levels, with the highest being a smiling face. However, with so many restaurants around, it's not always easy for visitors to know which ones are truly healthy and safe to eat at.
To address this issue, the administration is working on a digital food safety system that will help both residents and tourists easily locate "smiley" restaurants. The system also aims to streamline the daily operations of inspectors, making the process more efficient and transparent.
The planned "Digital Food Safety" project (Phase 1) includes four main modules: an "OA Office" system, a "Mobile Law Enforcement" system, a "Remote Monitoring System," and a "Public Service Platform." According to Chen Weijie, Deputy Director of the Sanya Food and Drug Administration, the remote monitoring system will place cameras in restaurant kitchens, allowing authorities to monitor the kitchen environment in real time. The public service platform will offer a mobile app where users can check the health ratings of restaurants, receive notifications, and even file complaints.
