【CNC】 In the continuous extrusion process, a distinct boundary line can appear between the joints of the billets, forming a strip or ribbon-like pattern that runs perpendicular to the extrusion direction. This feature is visible to the naked eye and becomes even more pronounced after corrosion or anodization. The primary cause of this phenomenon is poor metal bonding at the interface where new material is added to the front end of the billet during the extrusion process. This weak joining can lead to visible defects in the final product, affecting both its appearance and structural integrity.

To eliminate horizontal welding lines, the following methods are recommended:

1) Sharpen the scraper blade and ensure it is cut straight to maintain uniform pressure and prevent uneven material flow. A dull or misaligned blade can contribute to irregularities in the extrusion process.

2) Thoroughly clean the end face of the billet before extrusion to remove any contaminants or foreign particles that may be present in the lubricant. These impurities can interfere with the bonding process and result in weak joints.

3) Increase the extrusion temperature appropriately to improve the fluidity of the metal and enhance the bonding between the newly added material and the existing billet. However, care must be taken not to overheat, as excessive temperatures can cause other issues such as material degradation or die wear.

By implementing these measures, the occurrence of horizontal welding lines can be significantly reduced, leading to a higher quality extruded product with improved mechanical properties and a more aesthetically pleasing surface finish.
